Love Lockdown Gets Innocuous (LCD Soundsystem vs. Kanye West) by Absofacto. I know I post a lot of these, but I can’t get enough of a good mashup featuring LCD. <a href=”http://music.absofacto.com/track/love-lockdown-gets-innocuous-lcd-soundsystem-vs-kanye-west”...

Always a sucker for album covers featuring cats, I was instantly drawn to 3 1/2’s debut EP, First Recordings.  “Branches,” is one of my favorite tracks off the EP, which is available for free on Bandcamp, or for purchase on high-quality cassette tape. <a href=”http://co-wave.bandcamp.com/track/branches”...

Quite enjoy the retro feel of this track by Portland-based, Mars Water aka Ponny Kosmas. The EP Olympus Mons follows his debut full-length, Here We Are — an album which he wrote one song for each month of the year; each song following the first two were written and recorded in the same month. <a href=”http://marswater.bandcamp.com/track/chills”...

One of my favorite tracks by Porcelain Raft, aka Mauro Remiddi, off his EP Gone Blind. His debut full-length album, Strange Weekend, is out now via Secretly Canadian. L Magazine has a great interview with the Remiddi here. Check out a live performance of this track and “I Found a Way,” after the jump.

Whistle Peak is an electro-folk, indie pop outfit, by way of Louisville, KY. The group’s sophomore album, Half Asleep Upon Echo Falls, is due out Feb 14th via Karate Body Records. While “Wings Won’t Behave” is a great first single off the upcoming album, one of my personal favorites is the below track, “Hurry Hurry.”

“Going Away Party” by 1,2,3 Great, fun track by this Pittsburgh duo. Their debut album, New Heaven, was released mid-last year, and although this song didn’t make the final cut, it does have plenty other great ones to choose from. Check out a live, in-studio performance of one such example, “Confetti,” after the jump.

Opening track off of Oberhofer’s upcoming debut LP, Time Capsules II, to be released March 27th via Glassnote Records. It’s great to see far Oberhofer has come since I first saw him opening for The Vaccines way back when, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for 2012.

Shut Up And Play The Hits!
redeyednblue: Click here for the official trailer for Shut Up and Play the Hits! Great to have some new information about this documentary following James Murphy on the day of LCD Soundsystem’s very last show. According to the plot synopsis, the film is narrated by a “frank conversation on success and rock stardom between bandleader James Murphy and writer Chuck Klosterman”, which is so great...

Track off of Keepaway’s debut album, Black Flute, which was released today. This song in particular has a bit of an Animal Collective-esque sound to it. The Brooklyn-based trio will be holding their record release party tonight at Glasslands Gallery and will feature a DJ set by Das Racist’s Heems.

LCD + B.I.G. do I need to say more? There have been a few, similarly good remixes/mash ups featuring LCD floating around the internet for a while now — this being one of them — but I have to say I’m really enjoying the above track by Wealth, a Brooklyn-based musician and producer. In addition to a couple of other remixes, he has some noteworthy tracks of his own, including this...

Hard to describe exactly the magic behind the group known as Tiger Waves, so I’ll leave it to the description from their Bandcamp page: “Tiger Waves is a band born of dropboxes, email attachments and CD-Rs and while the two principal songwriters living 1,000 miles apart, it isn’t surprising that the music took on the expanses of the information highway during it’s travels back and...
